The N2 Ardee to Castleblayney Concerned Resident's Group say an "overwhelming majority" wants to see an upgrading of the existing road and not a new one.
Emma Payne, a spokesperson for the group, said it was "heartening" to see that many of the over 900 submissions reflected what she labelled a "common viewpoint".
However, the group has quashed local speculation that the scheme could be in doubt due to a lack of money as a result of the covid-19 pandemic.

They say this "unfortunately is not the case" and that the project is "going full steam ahead".
