13 schools in Cavan and Monaghan have been added to the extended DEIS Programme.
These include: Corlea NS, Kingscourt; Convent of Mercy, Belturbet; SN Beal Atha na nEach, Ballinagh; Bailieborough NS; St Clare's NS, Ballyjamesduff; Gaelscoil Bhreifne, Cabhán; St Patrick's NS, Blacklion; Ballybay NS, Monaghan; Scoil Éanna Ballybay; St Louis Girls NS, Monaghan; St Mary's BNS, Monaghan; St Louis Infant School, Monaghan; and St Tiarnach's NS, Clones.
The programme delivers equality of opportunity in school and is an action plan for educational inclusion.
There are currently 884 schools and over 180,000 students benefiting from the programme
Deputy Brendan Smith has welcomed the announcement.
He added, the move will provide additional supports for pupils and acknowledged the need for including “other schools” from across the region.
