Major crackdown on local roads this week

Local Gardaí are reminding road users to drive with care this bank holiday weekend.

Monaghan Gardaí yesterday conducted a considerable roads policing operation on the N2. 22 fixed charge notices were issued for various offences and 4 vehicles were seized, 1 of which was in an unroadworthy condition. Three drivers were also found to be uninsured and will face the courts at a later date. Meanwhile in Cavan, Gardaí conducted speed checks on the N55, with one motorist recorded travelling at 144kph.

Fixed penalty notices were issued to the offenders.
