There have been 240 Electric Vehicle grants paid in the Northern Sound region so far this year.
That's according to figures given by Minister for Transport Darragh O'Brien, in response to a parliamentary question from Pa Daly.
Pa Daly asked the Minister for Transport the number of grants provided for EV grants, broken down by local authority in each of the years 2020 to date; the breakdown of the total value of grants drawn down for EVs, broken down by local authority in each of the years 2020 to date, in tabular form.
In response, Darragh O'Brien outlined that Fleet electrification is expected to continue to provide the greatest share of emissions abatement in the short-to-medium term for the transport sector.
He noted that over €120m has been allocated in 2026 to support the continued transition to electric vehicles through funding for EV grants and EV charging infrastructure.
According to the figures, there was 141 EV grants given in Cavan in 2021, the number dropped slightly in 2022, to 102.
In 2023 there was 151 EV grants given in Cavan, 85 in 2024, 150 in 2025 and 160 so far this year.
In Monaghan 68 EV grants were given in 2021, there were 48 in 2022 and 84 in 2023.
In 2024 there were 63 EV grants in Monaghan, 123 in 2025 and 80 so far this year.
