Those affected are a mixture of customers who lost power during storm Isha and Jocelyn.

According to ESB, there are still 600 premises across Cavan and Monaghan without power today. A spokesperson for the energy provider said those affected are a mixture of customers who lost power during storm Isha and Jocelyn. A statement said "all available ESB Networks resources are deployed across both counties including crews and partner contractors who have travelled from less impacted areas of the country."

Earlier, Siobhan Wynne from ESB told the Joe Finnegan Show that nationwide, there are 6000 homes and businesses still without power. That figure is down from 230,000 three days ago but Cavan, Leitrim, Sligo, Mayo and Roscommon remains the areas most affected. The ESB spokesperson also said 50 contract electrical engineers have been drafted in from the UK to assist local crews in restoring power to the north west.

Siobhan Wynne said ESB hopes to have everyone's electricity restored tomorrow after a full day's work today. "So crews gain have been out this morning," Ms Wynne told Northern Sound, "It'll be the fourth day that our crews are out working. We have also moved all our crews that are available from every other part of the country towards the north-west so the areas we are still dealing with are Cavan, Leitrim, Sligo, Mayo, Donegal and parts of Roscommon."
