Bureaucracy is more of an issue for farmers than input costs according to a new report.
IFAC's Irish Farm Report 2026 found 48 per cent of farmers say regulations are their biggest concern with 44 per cent saying prices.
Overall, 61 per cent of respondents say they are positive for the future of farming despite numerous challenges.
IFAC's Head of Farm Support Philip O'Connor says there is an interesting breakdown in what is on farmers' minds:
"The dairy sector for example, there biggest concern was nitrates and regulation. That's not surprising, consider nitrates and so forth, and the impact it could potentially have on farmers- I know its solved," Mr. O'Connor said.
"In the tillage farmers, input prices or output prices was the biggest concern, over 80% of them, considering where the prices in tillage are," he added.
