90 year old man 'critically injured' in Co Monaghan road collision

'Investigations are ongoing'

A man in his 90s has been seriously injured in a road traffic collision in Co Monaghan. The incident occurred on the N2 at Drumgeeny yesterday evening at 7pm and involved a vehicle and a pedestrian;'

The injured man was initially taken to Cavan General Hospital for treatment but has since been transferred to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda. His condition is being described as 'critical'.

The N2 road remains closed in Drumgeeny and a technical examination is being conducted by Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.

Meanwhile, Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward. Road users who have camera footage - including dash-cam - and were travelling on the N2 at Drumgeeny between 6:30pm and 7:15pm are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
