Despite a short tenure in the position he is said to have left a lasting legacy of work which is continuing to be built upon today.

The former County Manager of Cavan County Council David Mackey has died.

Cathaoirleach of the Council, Councillor Clifford Kelly has led tributes to former County Manager, who passed away on Monday.

Mr Mackey served as County Manager from 1988 until 1989 and is said to have been a man of great integrity, strong values, with the best interests of the county at heart.

On behalf of all elected members councillor Kelly expressed his deepest sympathies to David’s wife Marian, their children, and extended family and many friends.

He is being remembered as someone who in his short tenure made an important contribution to many capital projects including the restoration of the Courthouse in Cavan and the development of the Cavan Town bypass.
