Sinn Féin's agriculture spokesperson says it is really concerning that ABP Foods in Clones is still open.

Two staff members have tested positive for covid-19 and the company is testing all staff at the plant as a precaution.

Although confirmed to Northern Sound News yesterday, it's understood the positive cases were detected up to two weeks ago.

Cavan-Monaghan TD Matt Carthy said it is a worrying development given that the regional lockdowns in Kildare, Laois, and Offaly were driven by coronavirus clusters in meat plants.

He told Shannonside Northern Sound that there have been "huge failures" on behalf of the HSE and HSA in monitoring coronavirus in meat plants:
