Adrian Rogers has been officially ratified as a councillor to Cavan County Council.
The Knockbride man has taken up his seat this afternoon on the local authority representing Aontú in Cavan.
The local man who is also a publican was selected at a convention that was held at the end of March.
The position on Cavan County Council came available following Sarah O'Reilly's elevation to the Seanad in January of this year.
Cllr Rogers has now filled the vacant seat that was on the Bailieboro/Cootehill Municipal District.
Cllr Clifford Kelly proposed Mr Rogers in taking up his position on the local authority and wished him the very best adding that he will be an excellent councillor.
The Kingscourt councillor said that Adrian as a big act to follow in Senator Sarah O’Reilly who has sat on Cavan County Council since 2016.
Cllr Carmel Brady said she was delighted to second Adrian’s ratification to take his seat on the local authority. She said she knew Adrian very well for over 20 years, adding that he had a wonderful community spirit about him.

Cllr Damien Brady spoke on behalf of his Sinn Fein colleagues to say they wished Adrian the very best in the future.
Cllr Niall Smith congratulated Adrian on his position, adding that welcomed another Knockbride person to the council and said he looked forward to working with Mr Rogers for the betterment of the people of the area.
Cllr Brendan Fay said as a fellow publican, he wanted to wish the new councillor well in his role.
Cllr John Paul Feeley wished Adrian the very best over the four years and said it was great to see his family here to witness this special occasion as Adrian took up his seat for his feet meeting of Cavan County Council.
Cllr Shane P O'Reilly who said he knew Cllr Rogers a very long time, he wished him and his family the very best in his new role and congratulated him on now being a member of the council.
Cllr O’Reilly said the Rogers family has been engraved in community spirit down through the years.
Cllr Noel Connell, Cllr Winston Bennet and Cllr TP O’Reilly all passed on their congratulations to Adrian, Cllr TP O’Reilly who is the current Cathaoirleach said the Knockbride man was a hardworker and very obliging.
All the other councillors gathered wished Adrian the very best and also formally congratulated Senator Sarah O’Reilly on her elevation to the upper house of the Seanad.
Cllr Rogers listed being a voice for the community and an advocate for local business among his priorities on entering the chamber.
He was wished well in his political career by councillors across the chamber and by Chief Executive Eoin Doyle.
Cathaoirleach Cllr TP O'Reilly hailed Cllr Rogers' energy, saying he was someone who was always willing to help in the community, noting he was "off to a good start" in politics with these character traits.
Both the Chief Executive and the Cathaoirleach also took the opportunity to congratulate Senator Sarah O'Reilly, who was present for the co-option, on her election Seanad Éireann, as did councillors from all sides of the chamber.
