An Age Friendly road safety event will take place at the Farnham Estate Hotel today from 11am to 3pm.
This initiative has been developed and led by Inspector Ann Marie Lardner.
It will address the unique needs, concerns and challenges faced by older road users - whether as pedestrians, cyclists, motorists, or operators of agricultural machinery.
The event recognises the value and needs of older adults and will provide them with the resources and reassurances needed to continue engaging safely and confidently in all aspects of road use.
Inspector Ann Marie Laudner is in charge of the Roads Policing for the Louth Cavan Monaghan Division.
Speaking on this morning's Joe Finnegan Show, Anne Marie said today's event will support safe mobility and independence among older adults. Other key objectives include: Promoting awareness of road safety and safe practices relevant to the 55 + age group, providing practical advice and demonstrations on safe driving, pedestrian behaviour, cycling safe and operating agricultural machinery. Building community trust while focusing on road safety.
There will be a number of guest speakers and information stands from partner agencies will be place. Packs to enhance awareness of road safety will be available for all attendees.
