Agriculture Minister launches new Teagasc fertiliser initiative at Ballyhaise College

Minister McConalogue says the campaign is in response to "unprecedented fertiliser prices" and potential supply concerns.

The Agriculture Minister has launched a new fertiliser initiative at Ballyhaise College that will "reduce dependency on chemical fertiliser in a sustainable manner".

Minister McConalogue says the Teagasc Soils, Nutrients, and Fertiliser campaign is in response to "unprecedented fertiliser prices" and potential supply concerns.

The campaign will see Teagasc assemble easy to use information that will assist farmers in optimising their use of valuable plant nutrients.

Minister McConalogue added that this "roadmap" to reducing dependency on chemical fertiliser will "be good for the environment and good for the pocket".

A detailed programme of knowledge transfer events, articles, videos and podcasts providing farmers with information of the campaign is available on the Teagasc website,

Speaking at Ballyhaise College, Minister McConalogue said he wants farmers to "maximise the potential of organic fertiliser":
