A total of almost 300 mobile phones were reported stolen across the Shannonside/Northern Sound region in the last 20 months.
Nationally around around €5 million euro worth of phones have been stolen since the beginning of last year.
Figures released by gardai this morning show 114 phones were reported stolen since early last year in the Cavan /Monaghan Division, and 98 were reported as having been taken in the Sligo/Leitrim division.

There were 78 incidents reported in the Roscommon/Longford division over the same timeframe.
People are being advised to download a special app so as to make it easier to trace their phones if they're stolen or lost.
