A local GAA club has issued an appeal following extensive damage to the grounds.
A car was captured on CCTV at the local GAA grounds in Smithboro just after 1 am yesterday morning.
driving around handbraking for over 3 minutes causing considerable damage to the pitch.
Ollie Treanor from the local club, Eire Og Na Mullai said the community is shocked by the incident.
A Prunty pitch costs well over €300,000 and according to Ollie the damage is significant.
He said members have trawled CCTV and the car in question appears to be a white Peugeot 308 bearing a Northern reg.
Ollie says the effect this has on the huge numbers of members whom have been volunteers for the last 20-30 years is enormous.
He appealed to anyone who may have any information to either contact the club or the local Gardai.
