Four men have appeared in court charged with conspiracy to import drugs into West Cork following a major Garda operation last week. Ten men were arrested in Leap and Tragumna last Thursday and detained at Garda stations around county Cork.
37-year-old Sean Curran of Carrickyheenan, Augnacloy, Enniskillen Co Fermanagh, 51-year-old Kiumaars Ghabiri from Rotterdam in the Netherlands, 48-year-old Ali Mazidi who is Dutch and 44-year-old Mario Angel Del Rio Sanz from Spain appeared in court this afternoon.
They were charged with conspiracy to import controlled drugs in excess of €13,000 between the 27th of February and the 14th of March last. Bail cannot be applied for at District Court level in this case Judge James McNulty remanded them in custody to appear before Bantry District Court next Wednesday. Six men arrested in relation to the case were also due to appear in court in Cork city and Midleton this afternoon.
