The 2026 Carrickallen Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund has awarded €18,000 in funding to 11 local community and voluntary groups, clubs and projects in Cavan.
The fund is being awarded by Cavan-based renewable energy company, Galetech Energy, in partnership with Greencoat Renewables.
Carrickallen Wind Farm consists of 10 wind turbines and has a capacity of over 20MW which is sufficient to supply approximately 10,500 Irish homes annually with clean, renewable energy.
This year, 11 local groups and initiatives have been selected and will receive funding.
The awardees are: Laragh National School - Schoolyard Enhancement Project, Bunnoe Community Enterprise Centre– A New Sound System, Bunnoe Senior Citizens – Social excursions for Elderly, St. Bridgids National School – Sensory and Physical Education Equipment, East Knockbride National School – Pollination Plan, Knockbride Festival – Family Festival Day, Lavey First Responders – Monthly CPR and AED skills training courses, Laragh Senior Social Club – Aid the Health and Wellbeing of the Elderly, Lavey Ladies Gaelic Mothers and Others – Back to Sport Initiative, Cootehill Poetry and Writers Group – Promoting Poetry, Culture and Literature to All and Droim Dhúin Éire Óg – Pollinator Plan
The Carrickallen Wind Farm Community Fund is aimed at delivering community good and services in the vicinity of the wind farm.
