Books of evidence have been served on the five men accused of involvement in the theft and attempted theft of ATMs in Castleblayney and Virginia

Books of evidence have been served on the five men accused of involvement in the theft and attempted theft of ATMs in Castleblayney and Virginia last year.

The cases appeared before the Special Criminal Court yesterday.

Former Crossmaglen footballer, 30 year old Daniel O'Callaghan of Monog Road, Crossmaglen, Co Armagh, 38 year old Niall Finnegan of Cherry Grove, Cullyhanna, Co Armagh, 34 year old Stephen Duffy of Coose, Tullynahinera, Castleblayney, Co Monaghan and his brothers 26 year old Ciaran and 29 year old Gerard Duffy of Greagh, Loughnamore, Co Monaghan all face charges related to the incidents.

In April 2019 an ATM in Castleblayney was stolen, while an attempt was made to remove the ATM at the Riverfront Hotel in Virginia in August.

The Special Criminal Court yesterday was told the books of evidence are ready to be served on the men.

The case was relisted to appear before the Court again in early February.
