There has been a boost in the number of new homes commenced in Cavan across 2023. Commencement data shows construction of new homes is up 80% in 2023 on the previous year.
The Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage has published its monthly data on the number of Commencements Notices (residential construction starts) for December 2023 which shows the total number of all new homes started last year. In 2023 there have been commencement notices for 249 homes in Cavan, an 80% increase on the same period in 2022 at 138 units
Nationally, the data shows that between January and December 2023, 32,801 Commencement Notices for new homes were received by the Building Control Authorities. This is the highest number of annual commencements on record, an increase of over 21.5% compared to 2022 (26,957) and is the highest number of annual residential commencements since records began in 2014.
