A nursing home in Clogher, Co Tyrone is to be deregistered by authorities in the North after serious concerns about the quality of care for residents.

The decision has been taken by regulators RQIA to remove Health Care Ireland as the registered provider of the Valley Nursing Home in the border village.

This decision will take effect from January 6th.

Nursing home management had already been told it could be forced to close before after issues were found during inspections.

The RQIA in the North says it has "serious concerns about the quality of care and the environment for residents".

It says the decision has not been taken lightly and it is working with the local Health and Social Care Trust to find a solution for residents of the centre.
