There have been calls for the registration fee for nurses to be waived.
Nurses and midwives are required to renew their membership every year at a cost of at least €100.
Cavan County Council yesterday heard calls from Independent member Shane P O'Reilly, who said the fee should be waived in light of the commitment nursing staff have shown during the pandemic.

He said nurses in the UK are to receive a £500 tax credit in recognition of their work but nothing similar has been introduced in Ireland.
