A local TD has repeated his call on the Irish government to exert pressure on their British counterparts to release all files in respect of the 1974 Dublin and Monaghan bombings.
Speaking during Questions to Fine Gael leader, Simon Harris, in his capacity as Minister for Foreign Affairs, Deputy Matt Carthy said that it was also imperative that agencies in this state also divulge information in their position in respect of the bombings which caused the deaths of 34 people.
The Sinn Fein TD asked is the Tánaiste satisfied that agencies in this state have also endeavoured to ensure that all information within their possession is divulged to the appropriate authorities.
He said we cannot call on the British Government to do something we are not doing ourselves. Deputy Carthy says it is beyond doubt that the British Government colluded in the murder of citizens of this State in the capital city and in Monaghan.
He said it is beyond disgraceful and scandalous that it continues to withhold information that would allow the families affected to get to the truth.
