Canada Day is being celebrated online in County Monaghan today.
July 1st marks Canada's National Holiday, and in previous years celebrations were held in the local region to mark the day.
County Monaghan is twinned with Prince Edward Island and Miramichi, to mark links that were first established after migration from Ireland in the 1800s.

Plans for celebrations were cancelled due to Covid-19, but a number of events have moved online instead, with the Canada Day in Monaghan committee hoping it will re-affirm the county as "Canada's Home in Ireland".
