Carrickmacross road reopens following serious collision

The road has since reopened following a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

The R180 road between Carrickmacross and Ballybay has reopened following a serious collision yesterday morning. A female passenger aged in her 50s of one of the vehicles was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, with serious injuries.

The driver of this vehicle, a woman in her 20s, was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, with non-life threatening injuries.

A female passenger aged in her 60s of the second vehicle involved was taken to the same hospital with serious injuries. Meanwhile, a male driver aged in his 50s and a female passenger aged in her 40s were also taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, with non-life threatening injuries.

Any road users who were travelling in the area of Killarue, Carrickmacross, between 9.30am and 10.30am yesterday morning (October 19th) and who may have camera footage (including dash-cam), are asked to make this available to Gardaí.
