A Carrickmacross teenager who requires specialised treatment in America is making that journey to the US today.
Stephen Kirk has Stage 4 Glioma, which is a type of tumour that occurs in the brain and spinal cord.
The treatment Stephen needs is only available in Texas.

Stephen and his mother, Jean Woods, are embarking on that journey today and Jean has thanked everyone who supported them along the way.
Speaking previously to Northern Sound, Jean said she didn't have much hope of making it to Texas, but that the "kindness" of the local community made the journey possible:
