'Check the tyres because they are the only contact you have with the roads'

'Get your mind in gear' for the frosty conditions this week. That's the message from the Road Safety Authority (RSA) - which says extreme care is needed on the country's roads.

Motorists are advised to take their time and make sure their car is fully roadworthy. Brian Farrell from the RSA wants everyone to stay safe.

"The challenging conditions could catch us all out. So, we are advising road users to keep tuned into weather reports and pay particular attention to the advice from the Gardai and local authorities.

"The car needs to be fit for purpose to be able to handle the conditions and the most important thing is to check the tyres because they are the only contact you have with the roads," he added.
