Cavan Burren Park has picked up a Green Flag Award for the first time.

The UNESCO Global Geopark has been awarded the internationally recognised mark of quality for exceeding already tough environmental standards and excellence in visitor attractions.

Meanwhile, the Mall in Longford has retained its Green Flag Award.

There are now 84 parks and gardens across Ireland that have received their 2020 Green Flags.

Elsewhere, the number of Green Flag Community Award sites in Ireland has more than doubled from last year.

The Community Award acknowledges community groups for the excellence of their volunteer run community green spaces and Knockvicar Organic Garden and Ballaghaderreen Community Garden in Roscommon has received 2020 Green Flag Community Awards.
