A Cavan political commentator gave his reaction to President Biden's visit to Ireland on this morning's Joe Finnegan Show which was broadcast live from Knock ahead of the 46th American President touching down in Co Mayo this afternoon.
Cavan's Sean McKiernan highlighted how surveys show that around 33 million Americans claim a link or a connection to Ireland. According to Mr McKiernan, those who claim Irish heritage feel that connection "greatly" and have a deep interest in Irish dancing, music, history and culture.
Although many have described Biden's visit to Mayo today as "historic" as being the first ever American President to visit the county.
The Cavan commentator disputed this claim, revealing to Northern Sound that former President Ronald Reagan actually spent a weekend in Ashford Castle, when he was president in the early 80s.
Despite this, Mr McKiernan praised Joe Biden for being a "genuine man" adding that people right across Ireland are "deeply interested" in this visit.
