Gardaí have confirmed a number of dogs were taken by the Dog Warden to the local pound.

They were assessed by a vet but did not require medical treatment.

It was reported this incident involved Cavan Councillor Craig Lovett.

Councillor Lovett is registered with the Department of Agriculture as a seller of supplier of dogs as he sells or supplies six or more pets in one calendar year.

However, he has told Northern Sound News that reports of his involvement are "completely false" and has denied ownership of the dogs.

Northern Sound News has again contacted Councillor Lovett seeking clarity on his involvement, if any, in the case.
