Cavan father says 'money alone' will not solve chaos of school transport

A Cavan father believes money alone will not solve the issues around school transport.

Francis Kilbride from Bawnboy has been "unable" to access a school bus seat for his son Jamie over the last five weeks.

Jamie who is autistic, attended a mainstream school at primary level with no transport issues according to his dad Francis.

Now, Jamie who was meant to start secondary school five weeks ago has been left wondering if he will ever be able to get to school again.

According to Francis, the situation is having a "negative" impact on his son, who heavily relies on the structure and routine of school.

While Education Minister Norma Foley is hopeful she will secure extra funds to deal with the situation in tomorrow's budget.

Mr Kilbride remains dubious, adding that he "doesn't understand" how more money will help if there is still a limited number of drivers and buses:
