A Cavan GAA club is "thankful" for the safety of two players who were unexpectedly caught up in a public shooting in Spain. Cian Madden and Conor Brady who play for Gowna fled a public area in Puerto Banus on the Costa del Sol, after a gunman opened fire.

The incident made headlines across the globe on Tuesday, after a chilling video of the shooting surfaced online. In a statement issued to Northern Sound, a spokesperson from Gowna GAA confirmed that both players are "safe and well" following the ordeal.

The spokesperson highlighted how both men are returning home this weekend, as Gowna face Crosserlough tomorrow evening in the league semi-final.
