A Cavan man is raising awareness of rural crime following his daughter's experience of having her car broken into.
Sean O'Rinn was attending a funeral of a friend last Monday and went to the burial in Cullies graveyard.
During this time, his daughters car was broken into by smashing a window, and a bag which contained bank cards and a mobile phone was stolen.
A bank card was then used very quickly, with €60 worth of fuel purchased and €500 withdrawn from the account in cash.
Later on an attempt was made to withdraw more cash and buy groceries in Tesco but the card was blocked at this point.
Sean was thankful to report that the bank of Ireland has refunded the €560 into the account.
A garda investigation into the theft is underway.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show this morning, Sean explained the situation.
