A Cavan priest says the "freedom to practice faith" is one of the casualties of the covid-19 pandemic.

Fr PJ Hughes, of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Mullahoran, added that Churches cannot be equated to other sectors like retail and called for Churches to be open for Easter and the Sacraments.

This is in contrast to Father Roy Donovan, of the Association of Catholic Priests, who told yesterday's Joe Finnegan Show that there is no demand for a physical return to mass and such a move should not be considered until most of the population is vaccinated.

However, Father PJ Hughes says he's speaking up for people who want to practice their faith:
