Peter Monaghan the move into snail farming was a "no brainer".

A Cavan snail farmer says the sector is growing year-on-year and can provide a low-risk, additional income for farmers.

Peter Monaghan came across snail farming in 2015 and noticed a gap in the market.

He's producing 1.4 million native Irish Hélix Aspersa Muller snails a year, which amounts to around 10 tonnes.

It's one of the most popular species on the market and Peter sells them wholesale to countries like Greece.

Speaking on this morning's Joe Finnegan Show, Peter said the move to snail farming was a "no brainer":
