Cavan TD expresses concern over 'Hampton Court' rent increase

Deputy Pauline Tully has called for something to be done immediately.

'We need good and ordinary landlords on the market'.

That's according to Cavan TD, Pauline Tully who gave her view on Sinn Fein's calls to ban rent increases over a three-year period.

Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show, Deputy Tully expressed concern over newly purchased apartment blocks in Cavan's Hampton Court, were rents have increased in some cases for people by up to 50 percent.

According to Deputy Tully, while residents of Hampton Court are set to challenge the increase, she warned that similar cases are happening "all over the country" and "it needs to be stop."

She described the current situation as an "emergency" adding that rents are "higher than ever" while the availability of rental properties are at an all time low:
