Cavan's first solar bin has been installed in Virginia.
A solar bin automatically compacts waste, and can allow the bins to hold up to ten times their normal capacity.
This means daily collections can become weekly, and the bin can also communicate with waste collectors automatically so that it's emptied on time, preventing overflow.

Virigina Tidy Towns unveiled the first of its kind locally at the Ramor lakeshore yesterday, with the hope that they could become a more regular feature across the county.
