Mullahoran's Philip Brady has been elected as the Cathaoirleach of Cavan County Council. The Fianna Fail councillor received the chain of office this afternoon at the council's AGM which took place in Cavan Courthouse.

Cllr Brady follows in the footsteps of his father Danny Brady, and his late aunt, Veronica Sharkey. Both his dad and his late aunt previously served as Cathaoirleach. Cllr Brady's father Danny served on Cavan Council as a local representative for 47 years and at one time he was the longest serving councillor in the county.
