The Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board have applied for planning permission to construct an extension at Virginia College.
Under the application lodged with Monaghan County Council recently, the CMETB plan to construct 4 special educational needs classrooms. There are also plans to build 11 general classrooms in an extension linked to the existing secondary school building. In total, the new extension will cover 4538 sq metres. The education board is also seeking permission to demolish the existing school building that dates back to 1960 to accommodate 2 ball courts, bicycle stands, 27 relocated and 9 proposed car parking spaces with a bus set-down area. The plans also include the installation of 46 south facing solar panels.
