Co Cavan records standout offence as 1,500 detected speeding over bank holiday

A motorist was clocked at close to 110 km/h in 60 zone, on the R188 at Doocassan, Drung.

Close to 1,500 motorists were detected speeding over the Bank Holiday weekend, with one of the standout offences clocked in Co Cavan.

On Saturday, 467 drivers were detected for speeding and will be issued with Fixed Charge Notices.

One of the highest speeds detected on Saturday was in Co Cavan, where a motorist was clocked at close to 110 km/h in 60 zone, on the R188 at Doocassan, Drung.

Meanwhile, 544 drivers were detected speeding on Sunday and 484 were clocked over the speed limit yesterday.

Gardaí have urged motorists to slow down on the roads and be mindful of other road users.
