EU Commissioner for Finance, Mairead McGuinness has called on the farming community in the border region to ensure diversity by putting women 'in the picture'.
The commissioner was speaking during the recently held Virginia Agricultural Show launch in Co Cavan.
She warned that "every effort must be made" to ensure that not only are women's voices heard, but that women become visible.

Commissioner McGuinness paid tribute to former IFA Cavan chairwoman Elizabeth Ormiston whom she added, was "a very capable and able leader".
The difficulty, says the Commissioner, is that women "are not in the picture" and they therefore, cannot be seen.
