Decision to sell Cavan egg business was difficult but right says founder

The news was announced earlier this month.

One of the founders of a local egg company says the decision to sell was a difficult one but ultimately the right one.

It was announced earlier this month that east Cavan company Clonarn Clover was to be taken over by Nest Egg Box based in Castleblayney.

Clonarn Clover was the country's third largest processor of free range eggs, with over 50 million eggs packed a year.

The details of the deal have not been released.

The company was set up in 1987 by Margaret and Leo Farrelly, with their children also involved.

Margaret is to remain on as a consultant for the brand for a period but she told The Joe Finnegan Show today that time with family will now be the priority:
