According to Deputy Smith, the scheme opened over the weekend.

The Temporary Business Energy Support Scheme (TBESS) has opened for registration and will be administered by the Revenue Commissioners.

It will assist businesses with their electricity and energy costs over the winter months.

First payments from the TBESS will be available to business owners by the end of the year, once the Finance Bill 2022 is enacted in December.

Cavan Monaghan Fianna Fail TD, Deputy Brendan Smith, said that qualifying businesses will get up to 40% off the additional costs they are facing - up to €10,000 per month until February.

He added that high energy costs are causing significant issues for small and medium businesses across the region and this latest scheme would help to ease that burden over the next few months.
