Close to 100 resident's associations and Tidy Town groups in Co Monaghan are to share in environmental funding of around €65,000.
The successful 99 groups will receive funding ranging from €200 to €1,800 for projects to enhance and develop their local areas.
Several thousand euro of the funding has been left unspent to allow other groups to apply over the reminder of the year.
Seamus Coyle proposed the funding and said while the figures "may seem low, it is important" to the groups.
David Maxwell seconded the funding and called it "money well spent".
