The Minister for Education is to meet with representatives of the west Cavan "Save Our Schools" campaign.
Local TD Brendan Smith says he's received confirmation that Minister Norma Foley will meet with local politicians and members of the committee working to save the two secondary schools.
CMETB proposed in 2019 that St Mogue's in Bawnboy and St Bricin's in Belturbet would close and be merged into a new school in Ballyconnell.

However, the plans were met with widespread opposition despite the ETB saying the move would be good for students.
The face to face meeting with Minister Foley is to take place before the end of the month, and Deputy Smith says they'll outline the communities view.
