Permission was sought for a 15 meter high telecommunications structure at the Eir Exchange and an 18 meter high structure at an Eir Exchange in Ballyhaise.

Eir has been denied planning permission for two separate masts in Co Cavan.

The telecommunications provided sought permission to erect an 18 meter high structure at an Eir Exchange in Ballyhaise, which would have replaced two existing timber poles.

Permission was also sought for a 15 meter high telecommunications structure at the Eir Exchange to the rear of the garda station on Main Street, Ballinagh.

However, Cavan County Council refused to grant permission for the proposed mast in Ballyhaise due to its "close proximity to the designated historic town square".

Meanwhile, the application for a mast in Ballinagh was refused because it was deemed to be of a "scale and design" that would have "an adverse impact on the visual and residential amenities of the area".
