ESB and Coillte have been called on to address annual power outages in West Cavan.
At a recent meeting of the Cavan-Belturbet Municipal District Councillor Sean Smith said areas from Leitrim through to Glangevlin and other remote areas in the west of the county lose their electricity for a number of days.
He says this is because many of the power lines are beside trees which are under the remit of Coillte and he wants both bodies to meet the council and present a solution.

Councillor Smith says in many cases people are living alone and this isolates them, as well as causing them to lose entire fridges of food.
However, he is unsure if either will agree to the meeting:
