ESB report 1,400 Cavan premises without power

According to ESB Networks 650 customers in Ballyconnell and 750 in Killeshandra are without power this morning.

According to ESB Networks 650 customers in Ballyconnell and 750 in Killeshandra were without electricity this morning. Met Éireann had earlier issued a yellow snow-ice warning for Cavan and Monaghan until 12pm after heavy snowfall overnight.

In a statement ESB said: "there have been some outages across the county, predominantly in the west, following snowfall which our crews have been responding to as they arise as quickly and safely as possible". The statement also said "treacherous travelling conditions are posing a challenge in accessing fault sites" but the company is "working towards restoring power to all customers over the course of the day".

ESB Networks also added that they "apologise to all customers impacted for the obvious inconvenience caused". For anyone affected ESB advise that real-time updates are available on the www.PowerCeck.ie website. In the meantime, Met Éireann have issued an all-Ireland Status Yellow Weather Warning beginning at 9pm tonight and in place until 9am tomorrow morning, Saturday 2nd March.
