The exclusion of some Cavan Councillors from a meeting with the Transport Minister last week has been called ‘an insult’, and ‘unacceptable’.

A delegation from the local authority, who are members of the CPG, met with Minister Eamon Ryan on Friday to discuss the need for increased funding for roads in the county

However, Independent councillor Shane P. O’Reilly said he was annoyed and upset to find out about the meeting through the local media saying all members should have been made aware.

He was supported by Independent councilor Brendan Fay and Sinn Féin’s Paddy McDonald, who said that it shouldn’t only be the two main parties that are included in these conversations.

The executive told members that TD Niamh Smyth organised the meeting not them and it was only members of the CPG that attended the meeting.

However, Shane P. O’Reilly says this is unacceptable:
