A "face-to-face" meeting is set to take place with the CMETB to discuss the merging of two west Cavan schools.

It is proposed that St Mogue's in Bawnboy and St Bricin's in Belturbet be merged into a new €15 million school in Ballyconnell.

The plans were first announced in late 2018 and Independent Councillor Brendan Fay says the "community is up in arms" over the "very contentious issue".

At a recent CMEBT meeting, Councillor Fay demanded that a physical meeting be held as soon as the covid regulations allow.

He told Northern Sound that "this is an emergency for West Cavan" and an "online meeting" won't do
