Fibre broadband network to be delivered to rural premises in Cavan

17,000 premises across Cavan are included in the State's Intervention Area, which will see NBI deliver minimum speeds of 500 megabites per second.

Almost 2,900 homes, businesses and farms in rural areas surrounding Kilnaleck, will be able to connect to fibre broadband on the National Broadband Ireland network in coming months.

The area also includes the rural surrounds of Kilnaleck, Ballymachugh and Ballyjamesduff.

As the biggest investment in rural Ireland since rural electrification, Cavan as a whole will receive €65M of Government investment under the National Broadband Plan.

Peter Hendrick is the Chief Executive Officer of National Broadband Ireland.

Speaking to Northern Sound, he believes this service will enable users to experience the life-changing benefits that high-speed broadband provides.
