Fifty years since Castleblayney bombing marked today

The special event is to honour the victims and all those impacted by the event.

Today marks 50 years since the Castleblayney bombing.
A wreath laying ceremony will be held at the memorial site on the Main Street at 2pm this afternoon.

The special event is to honour the victims and all those impacted by the event.
At around 8.20pm on March 7th, a car bomb, for which no warning had been given, exploded outside the Three Star Inn in Castleblayney, killing 56 year-old Patrick (Packie) Mone instantly and injuring 17 people.
No one was ever charged in relation to the bombing that occurred in the Monaghan town.
